More about this artwork

"La Tour Saint Jacques" painted by Konstantin Alexeevich Korovin presents a vibrant and enchanting evening scene in Paris, capturing the lively spirit and charm of the city. In this vivid portrayal, the central focus is the Saint Jacques Tower, which stands tall amidst a bustling square illuminated by street lamps and light spilling from nearby cafes and shops. The scene is alive with the movement of pedestrians, cyclists, and vintage automobiles, all rendered in quick, impressionistic strokes that convey the dynamic energy of the city.Emanating a warm glow, the painting offers viewers a glimpse into Parisian life during the early 20th century, marked by the hustle and bustle typical of a thriving urban center. The use of light and shadow, along with the rich palette of blues, greens, and yellows, creates a sense of depth and texture—making "La Tour Saint Jacques" not only a work of art but a narrative of urban elegance and complexity.

Konstantin Alekseyevich Korovin was a leading Russian Impressionist painter.

Konstantin was born in Moscow to a merchant family officially registered as "peasants of Vladimir Gubernia". His father, Aleksey Mikhailovich Korovin, earned a university degree and was more interested in arts and music than in the family business established by Konstantin's grandfather.
