More about this artwork

"Still Life With Fruit," a vibrant 1927 masterpiece by Konstantin Alexeevich Korovin, captures the lush richness of nature’s bounty. Laid upon a rustic wooden table, a diverse array of fruits and leaves splays across the canvas, exuding a sense of abundance and autumnal warmth. The composition is dominated by a woven basket spilling over with grapes of various hues, nestled among apples, pears, and a scattering of fall foliage that frames the fruits with fiery shades of orange, red, and green.Korovin's painterly technique brings these elements to life with bold, expressive brushstrokes that emphasize texture and the play of light. The deep blues and purples of the grapes contrast vividly with the bright oranges and yellows of the apples, making the canvas burst with color. The spontaneity in his brushwork lends a dynamic quality to the still life, suggesting the transient beauty of nature and the fleeting moments of peak ripeness. This painting not only showcases Korovin's talent for color and composition but also serves as an evocative reminder of the simple beauty found in everyday objects, inviting viewers to pause and appreciate the richness of the world around us.

Konstantin Alekseyevich Korovin was a leading Russian Impressionist painter.

Konstantin was born in Moscow to a merchant family officially registered as "peasants of Vladimir Gubernia". His father, Aleksey Mikhailovich Korovin, earned a university degree and was more interested in arts and music than in the family business established by Konstantin's grandfather.
