More about this artwork

The painting showcases a vibrant pattern of interlocking shapes and colors on a rich magenta background. Dominant in the design are large ovoid forms in a striking blue, outlined in black, each enclosing a delicate, white, lattice-like pattern suggesting a texture or mesh. These are intersected by sinuous, orange bands that swirl around the ovals, adorned with small, leaf-like black and white accents that seem to flutter around the central structures like leaves or petals caught in a gentle breeze.

Emile-Alain Séguy was a French 20th century artist. He produced eleven albums inspired by insects, butterflies and nature, with intricate Art Nouveau and brightly colored Art Deco geometric floral patterns. He used a unique printing technique called Pochoir, the method of applying pigment to paper through stencils.
