More about this artwork
1915This luminous painting by Lilly Walther, titled "Maastik", transports viewers to an enchanting autumnal landscape, likely capturing the serene beauty of the early 20th century European countryside. The painting showcases a vivid display of autumn colors, with trees adorned in golden, amber, and green hues. A quaint house, partially hidden by the rich foliage, suggests a peaceful rural life, nestled amidst nature. The most striking feature of "Maastik" is the reflection in the water, which is rendered with remarkable skill. The mirror-like surface of the pond captures the play of light and color, duplicating the trees and the sky in a soft, impressionistic manner. A small bridge over the pond adds a charming element, inviting the viewer to imagine walking through this picturesque setting.Walther’s brushwork is fluid and expressive, contributing to a sense of vibrancy and movement within the stillness of the scene. The sky, a soft tableau of blue, serves as a calm backdrop, making the foliage and architectural elements pop with color and life.
