Created around 1923, this piece stands as a vivid testimony to Korovin's masterful use of color and his ability to evoke emotion through impressionistic brushstrokes. The painting portrays a serene moment in a sun-dappled garden, where a woman in a flowing white dress lounges leisurely on a green wooden bench. Adorned with a vibrant flower on her wide-brimmed hat, she becomes a harmonious part of the garden's blooming environment. The background is a flurry of greens, whites, and yellows, mimicking the lively play of sunlight through leaves and reflecting the vibrancy of a summer day. Konstantin Alekseyevich Korovin was a leading Russian Impressionist painter.
Konstantin was born in Moscow to a merchant family officially registered as "peasants of Vladimir Gubernia". His father, Aleksey Mikhailovich Korovin, earned a university degree and was more interested in arts and music than in the family business established by Konstantin's grandfather.
