More about this artwork
The painting depicts a single vibrant sunflower, mostly in shades of yellow. The sunflower, slightly leaning, boasts a large, round center with darker tones possibly indicating seeds, surrounded by lively, long petals that flutter outward. Some petals appear worn, adding a naturalistic touch to the depiction. Towards the base of the bloom, several green sepals can be seen cradling the flower. A sturdy, slim green stem holds the sunflower aloft, curving elegantly upwards from the bottom left corner of the painting. One solitary, veined green leaf emerges from the stem, lending an additional element of life and detail to the composition.
