More about this artwork
The painting showcases a vibrant collection of floral patterns, arranged in four distinct panels, each bursting with color and intricate details. The top left features a vertical design of leafy stems and foliage in shades of blue and violet against a lively orange background, bordered by a striking pattern of navy blue and cream. Across it, the top right panel displays a complex arrangement of floral shapes and leaves framing a symmetric, mandala-like center in predominantly blue and yellow hues, set against a mustard backdrop. Below on the left, dramatic, concentric circles in purples, pinks, and greens dominate, creating a bold, graphic effect on a turquoise field. The bottom right panel contrasts sharply with an almost night-time scene, where thin, pink botanical motifs with delicate details rise against a deep, dark green and black foliar background.

Emile-Alain Séguy was a French 20th century artist. He produced eleven albums inspired by insects, butterflies and nature, with intricate Art Nouveau and brightly colored Art Deco geometric floral patterns. He used a unique printing technique called Pochoir, the method of applying pigment to paper through stencils.
