More about this artwork
The painting features a series of vibrant floral patterns arranged in three distinct oval-shaped sections against a white background. Each section is encircled by a thin purple outline. The top oval displays a cluster of bright pink flowers with darker pink details and a spray of green foliage, set against a teal background. The middle oval contains flowers with a dark, almost black core, surrounded by petals in shades of brown and purple with hints of sage green leaves, set against an earth-tone backdrop. The bottom oval reveals a more subdued tone with large, leaf-like figures in shades of green and prominent pink details, centered in a black circular field. These floral illustrations are meticulous in design, featuring emphasized contours and a harmonious balance of color and form, representing a potential for use in textile design, as suggested by the accompanying text that alludes to carpets and fabrics.

Emile-Alain Séguy was a French 20th century artist. He produced eleven albums inspired by insects, butterflies and nature, with intricate Art Nouveau and brightly colored Art Deco geometric floral patterns. He used a unique printing technique called Pochoir, the method of applying pigment to paper through stencils.
