More about this artwork

The painting 'Landscape' by Maxime Maufra, crafted in 1911, offers a vibrant view into the serene life of a quaint village. At the heart of the painting is a tall, slender church spire that stretches ambitiously towards the sky, capturing the focus of the composition. Around it, the village unveils itself with cozy, tucked-away houses surrounded by lush greens and the calm blues of the river that mirrors the world above its surface.Maufra’s use of clear, vigorous strokes and a lively color palette encapsulates the dynamic interplay between architecture and nature. Foreground boats and the reflections in the water add layers and depth, hinting at the tranquil daily life that moves along the gentle currents of the river. This piece is a stellar example of Maufra's ability to blend Impressionist techniques with his personal artistic vision, highlighting his love for landscapes and marine scenes.
