More about this artwork

We invite you to explore the tranquil beauty embodied in Eugen Jettel’s pastoral masterpiece, “Flusslandschaft mit Kühen” (River Landscape with Cows), crafted in 1895. This evocative painting gracefully captures a serene, bucolic landscape, which invites viewers into a world where nature's calming presence is paramount. The scene, set under a soft, expansive sky that suggests the early hues of dusk or dawn, features a gentle river meandering through a lush countryside. Two cows are depicted drinking from the river’s edge, adding a touch of pastoral life to the landscape. The reflective surface of the water mirrors the rich tones of the sky and the animals, enhancing the overall sense of peace and harmony that pervades the painting.Dominating the background is a quaint thatched cottage surrounded by sparse, windswept trees and overgrown shrubbery, suggesting a life intertwined with nature and the rhythms of the rural landscape. The subtle execution of colors, from the earthy tones of the land to the muted greens and yellows of the vegetation, reveals Jettel's mastery in conveying atmosphere and mood.Eugen Jettel, renowned for his landscape paintings, has brilliantly encapsulated the essence of rural life in this work, inviting viewers to pause and reflect on the simplicity and beauty of the natural world. “Flusslandschaft mit Kühen” not only showcases his skill with the brush but also his profound sensitivity to capturing the timeless bond between humanity and nature. This painting is a splendid addition to our collection and provides an enduring look at the tranquil scenes that have charmed and captivated audiences for centuries.
