More about this artwork

Eugen Jettel's pastoral masterpiece, "Ford over a River," is an evocative painting that captures the serene beauty of a countryside scene. This landscape presents a gentle river coursing through a lush, verdant environment, where every leaf and blade of grass seems to be painted with meticulous attention to detail. In the foreground, we see a delicate ford where the river diverges around an expanse of shallow water and small, scattered rocks. A lone cow stands in the river, possibly drinking or cooling off, adding a touch of serene rural life to the scene. The background is filled with a variety of trees in various shades of green and autumnal tones, suggesting the richness of the forest surrounding the river. To the right, a wooden bridge stretches across the river, suggesting connectivity and human presence without dominating the natural setting. The colors are primarily earthy with splashes of bright greens and whites, reflecting light and shadow dynamically across the canvas.Jettel's use of light imbues the scene with a tranquil, almost ethereal quality, while details like the grazing animals and the textured vegetation bring the scene to life, making it almost palpable.
