We invite you to explore the captivating work of Konštantín Bauer titled "Štúdia geometrického ornamentu" (Study of Geometric Ornament), created between 1925 and 1927. This striking piece reveals Bauer’s profound engagement with geometric abstraction and ornamentation, showcasing his meticulous approach to the composition and use of color. The painting features a central motif composed of interlocking geometric shapes, including triangles, parallelograms, and a central diamond-like figure. This carefully structured arrangement provides a sense of dynamic balance, while the earthy palette of browns, yellows, and reds grounds the composition with a warm, inviting tone. Surrounding this focal point are additional wavy and jagged forms, stretching outward in an echo of traditional folk patterns and textiles.Executed on graph paper, the drawing also subtly includes marks of calculation and planning, hinting at the mathematical care with which Bauer approached his creative process. These gridlines and sketch marks offer a fascinating glimpse into the artist’s methodical process, emphasizing the thoughtful precision behind each composition element."Štúdia geometrického ornamentu" not only reflects Bauer's dedication to geometric forms and patterns but also offers a splendid example of how traditional motifs can inspire modern artistic expression.
