The dense cross-hatching and the varying line weights create a sense of volume and form, emphasizing the facial features of Eric O, such as his defined cheekbones and strong jawline. The background is filled with vertical and diagonal lines, adding a dynamic contrast and focusing the viewer’s attention on the facial expression of the subject.Albert Edelfelt’s mastery in handling etching tools is evident in the way he balances detail and abstraction.
