More about this artwork

Dive into the colorful chaos of Martynas Ivinskas's "Antique Teeth of Kashpirovsky," a painting that captivates and challenges the viewer with its vibrant surrealism and intricate detail. This imaginative piece draws on a palette of rich blues, fiery oranges, and radiant yellows, merging them into a scene that is both mystifying and engaging. At first glance, the artwork appears to be a bustling congregation of abstract forms and faces, each element woven into the next with a fluidity that suggests motion and interaction. The central figures, characterized by their expressive eyes and quirky facial expressions, dominate the scene, inviting onlookers to ponder their relationship and the story they might be sharing. Among these characters, elements resembling musical instruments—a piano and possibly a saxophone—add a lyrical dimension to the tableau, hinting at a harmony that transcends the visual. The backdrop of the painting, a deep blue speckled with what looks like a shower of teeth, adds an element of the fantastical, pushing the boundaries of the viewer's imagination. This choice may symbolize communication or expression, central themes that resonate through the chaotic assembly of characters and colors.Martynas Ivinskas's "Antique Teeth of Kashpirovsky" is more than just a visual feast; it is an invitation to explore the depths of interpretation and the joys of surreal storytelling.

Martynas Ivinskas

Born Kaunas, Lithuania

Lives & works in Los Angeles, USA and Vilnius, Lithuania

“Martynas Ivinskas is not very concerned about form or the tools. This artist – which we can call a true libertarian of the art world – uses any means available at the given moment to create his art. This way the art was born on the jute coffee bags, on city maps – musicians and musical instruments who repeat, articulate and highlight the lines only seen by the artist, the streets of the cities we can one can lose himself. In addition to that he creates objects which are something between a sculpture, collage, a painting or a household item. To the beholder he offers an array of randomly scattered items, the fragmented reality. It is an organized chaos, objectified in his own, unique way. A sort of ‘whatever’ ” . Paulius Garbačiauskas
