More about this artwork

Martynas Ivinskas’s vivid artwork, "The Godfather Suite," is an intriguing piece that encapsulates the dynamic essence of abstract expressionism. This painting features figure elements that are distinctly bold, with thick black outlines accentuating the curves and forms within the composition. The use of vibrantly contrasting colors—vivid blues, pulsating reds, and energizing yellows—creates a visual rhythm that captures the viewer's eye and symbolizes intense emotional states. The central figure, depicted in shades of blue and adorned with gold, green, and crimson, holds an upright bass, aligning with a theme of classical sophistication that might be interpreted as a reference to the powerful, operatic themes present in Coppola’s film "The Godfather," yet abstracted to reach a universal audience. The inclusion of musical elements, combined with the abstract representation, gives a sense of movement, adding to the overall complexity and depth of the painting.

Martynas Ivinskas

Born Kaunas, Lithuania

Lives & works in Los Angeles, USA and Vilnius, Lithuania

“Martynas Ivinskas is not very concerned about form or the tools. This artist – which we can call a true libertarian of the art world – uses any means available at the given moment to create his art. This way the art was born on the jute coffee bags, on city maps – musicians and musical instruments who repeat, articulate and highlight the lines only seen by the artist, the streets of the cities we can one can lose himself. In addition to that he creates objects which are something between a sculpture, collage, a painting or a household item. To the beholder he offers an array of randomly scattered items, the fragmented reality. It is an organized chaos, objectified in his own, unique way. A sort of ‘whatever’ ” . Paulius Garbačiauskas
