The artwork is characterized by its vibrant yet light touch, using loose, fluid strokes that impart a sense of airiness and movement. The palette is a mix of cool blues and grays along with warmer yellows and hints of green, reflecting the natural hues you might find in an urban waterscape.Signac, known for his pointillist technique, has in this painting opted for broader, more expressive strokes, which beautifully convey the atmospheric quality of the Paris scenery. The distant silhouette of buildings and possibly Notre-Dame de Paris in the background suggests a panoramic view of the city, creating a deeply immersive scene. This artwork captures a vivid yet tranquil moment in Paris, emphasizing not just the physical beauty of the bridge and its surroundings, but also evoking the serene mood of a day by the Seine.

Paul Signac (1863-1935) was a French Neo-Impressionist painter. Together with Georges Seurat, Signac developed the Pointillism style. He was a passionate sailor, bringing back watercolor sketches of ports and nature from his travels, then turning them into large studio canvases with mosaic-like squares of color. He abandoned the short brushstrokes and intuitive dabs of color of the impressionists for a more exact scientific approach to applying dots with the intention to combine and blend not on the canvas, but in the viewer's eye.
