More about this artwork

This intriguing painting by Mantas Daujotas, titled "Glow," features a close-up depiction of what appears to be a large, heavy door, possibly metal, characterized by its rich brown color and highlighted by strong bolts at its edges. The door itself is slightly ajar, inviting curiosity about what might lie beyond it. On the left, a vibrant pink panel contrasts starkly with the otherwise muted tones, adding an element of visual tension and focus.Notably, the painting plays with light and shadow, suggesting a source of light originating from the unseen side of the door. This element might be what the title "Glow" refers to—the curiosity and allure of what is partially hidden and partially revealed. The detailed rendering of the door's texture and the shadows cast by the bolts add depth and realism to the work.Overall, the composition is minimal yet powerful, with a stark focus on form, color contrast, and the interplay of light and shadow, making the mundane subject of a door appear mysterious and significant.

Mantas Daujotas (b. 1993) – painter and musician based in Kaunas. As of 2017 a certified bachelor in painting with a couple of personal and several group exhibitions in a short period of time he’s considered a promising young artist. His paintings showcase a wide range of different subjects, although very rarely a human figure. Dark corridors, spaces stuffed with silence and rays of light, carrying a mystical narrative – these are some of the more representative characteristics of Daujotas’ paintings.
