More about this artwork
The painting depicts a small monkey curled atop a long, slender pole. Its body is compact and round, encircling the pole's summit with its tail hanging loosely. The monkey’s gaze is attentive and almost contemplative. Its fur appears soft and textured, contrasting with the smooth and stark pole it clings to. The pole is anchored onto a simple, flat platform that rests on a base with discreet wheels, suggesting the setup is portable. The background of the painting is plain, drawing all focus to the monkey and the stark lines of the pole and platform.
