More about this artwork
The painting depicts a dog with a keen and lively expression. Its eyes, wide and alert, glimmer with a sense of curiosity or anticipation. The dog has long, curly locks that frame its face and flow down its neck, lending it an air of elegance. Its fur is speckled with darker spots on a lighter base, particularly noticeable on the forelimbs. The texture of the fur is rendered with fine detail, showing various waves and curls that give it a very naturalistic appearance. The dog is leaning forward slightly, with its front paws resting on a flat surface, which may suggest a stance of readiness or interest in something just out of view.
