More about this artwork
The painting depicts a pigeon, primarily white with stunning black markings around its eyes and on its crest, feathers, and tail. The bird appears robust and is depicted with a slight ruffle in its feathers, suggesting a sense of alertness or attentiveness. Its sharp eyes and black beak add to a stark contrast against the white and soft grey feathers. Nearby, there's a solitary, large grey egg nestled within a simple, unadorned nest on the ground. The ground is lightly sketched with delicate lines, suggesting a sparse, unembellished setting, with a few pebbles scattered around.
