More about this artwork

In the mesmerizing artwork "Žvelgianti į dangų II" by Lithuanian artist Arūnas Rutkus, viewers are transported into a realm of abstract beauty and profound mystery. This painting, whose title translates to "Looking at the Sky II," invites contemplation through its dynamic interplay of color and form. The composition is dominated by deep, vibrant shades of blue, evoking the mystery and depth of the night sky. Swirling patterns and textures across the canvas suggest a kinetic energy, as if the sky itself is moving or breathing. Splashes of golden and lighter blue hues highlight areas, giving the impression of stars twinkling in the dark or the iridescent scales of a mythical creature. At the center, the figure—ambiguous and almost ethereal—appears to be in a state of transformation or motion, reaching out or bending towards an unseen force. This central figure, bathed in a golden glow, could be interpreted as personifying human curiosity or our perennial quest for understanding the universe.Arūnas Rutkus is known for his ability to convey deep emotions and abstract concepts through rich textures and color play. "Žvelgianti į dangų II" is a perfect exemplar of his style, where viewers are encouraged to look beyond the surface and explore their own connections to the cosmos and the mysteries it holds.
