More about this artwork

Arūnas Rutkus's compelling painting "Ramybė," which translates to "Calm," embodies a serene yet profound exploration of tranquility and introspection. Created in 2013, the artwork presents an ethereal depiction of a figure lying down in a contemplative state, bordered by the expansive horizon. The figure, coated in what appears to be glistening, delicate fabric, lies elegantly along an ornately patterned boat or cocoon-like structure. This suggests a journey or a passage, perhaps symbolic of the voyage through inner thoughts or the realms of peace. Notably, the figure’s face is turned away, hidden from view, emphasizing an inward focus and adding a layer of mystery to the painting. The intricate textures and golden hues enveloping the composition exude a warm, almost celestial glow, enhancing the overall atmosphere of quietude. The meticulous details in the craftsmanship of the boat and clothing, adorned with traditional scroll patterns, suggest a deep respect for heritage and the past's influence on present tranquility."Ramybė" invites viewers to pause and reflect, offering a momentary escape to a place of calm introspection. It is a masterpiece that perfectly balances the physical and metaphysical, echoing Rutkus's skill in transforming the everyday into the sublime.
