More about this artwork

Welcome to our exhibit featuring the captivating artwork of Samuel Jessurun de Mesquita, a talented artist known for his subtle yet profound approach to etching. One of his most intriguing works, "Roos (in cirkel, met golvende rand)" or "Rose (in circle, with wavy edge)" is highlighted here, showcasing de Mesquita's delicate and meticulous technique. This etching portrays the elegant and intricate detail of a single rose, centrally placed within a circular frame that is accented by a wavy, irregular border. The soft gradations of shading and the precise control of line manifest the velvety texture of the rose petals, lending a three-dimensional effect to the work. The contrast between the dark, fluid background and the light, detailed depiction of the rose highlights its natural beauty and delicate form.Samuel Jessurun de Mesquita's mastery in capturing the essence of his subjects with both realism and a touch of whimsy invites viewers into a deeper appreciation of the natural world. His artworks are not only a celebration of nature but also a showcase of extraordinary skill in the art of etching, making "Roos (in cirkel, met golvende rand)" a perfect example of his artistic legacy.
