More about this artwork

"From Zadielská dolina" is a stunning masterpiece by Slovak artist Ľudovít Čordák, created during the period of 1930–1935. This painting encapsulates the raw and natural beauty of the Zadielska Valley, a picturesque and scenic region that has inspired countless artists with its unique geological formations and vibrant landscapes. In this work, Čordák utilizes a vivid palette to convey the fiery hues of autumn. The central focus of the painting is a magnificent tree, its leaves painted in brilliant shades of gold, orange, and red, suggesting the changing colors of the fall season. The tree is beautifully contrasted against the deep reds and earthy tones of the valley cliffs, which frame the composition and add a dramatic backdrop. The subtle presence of a small figure wandering down the winding path adds a human element to the scene, suggesting a sense of scale and the profound impact of nature's grandeur on those who venture into its depths. The use of light and color in this painting not only highlights Čordák's skill with pastels but also evokes a sense of warmth and the fleeting beauty of the autumn season."From Zadielská dolina" invites viewers to lose themselves in the rich textures and emotive colors of the Slovak landscape, celebrating both the tranquility and the dynamic changes inherent to the natural world.

Ludwig Deutsch was an Austrian painter who settled in Paris and became a noted Orientalist artist.

Details of Ludwig Deutsch's life are obscure. He was born in Vienna in 1855 into a well-established Jewish family. His father Ignaz Deutsch was a financier at the Austrian court. He studied at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts 1872–1875, then, in 1878, moved to Paris where he became strongly associated with Orientalism.
