More about this artwork

The painting depicts a stylized sunflower with an exaggerated, dense center of dark seeds, surrounded by long, sharp-edged petals that flare outward. Most petals are shaded in white, tipped with brown, contrasting with the brown background which has a textured look. The flower’s circular core is richly detailed, suggesting a swirling, almost hypnotic pattern. The artwork is encapsulated within a boxed frame which includes the word "NOVEMBER" at the top, and at the bottom, the year "1917" and the artist’s initials "AJDG" are inscribed.
