More about this artwork

The painting features a quartet of vibrant, decorative panels, each displaying a unique floral pattern set against differently colored backgrounds. The top left panel showcases sinuous floral motifs with intricate leaves and bulbous flowers, rendered in shades of pink, purple, and yellow against a dark orange backdrop. The top right panel contrasts this with a simpler design of stylized blue and yellow flowers on a deep turquoise background. The bottom left panel presents a more graphic style, with bold, abstract floral shapes in teal and white, emphasizing a stark contrast on a darker green background. In the bottom right, the pattern evokes a sense of exotic allure with purple and orange flowers dramatically set against a deep green background, intertwined with white and yellow linear elements reminiscent of hanging ornaments or lanterns.

Emile-Alain Séguy was a French 20th century artist. He produced eleven albums inspired by insects, butterflies and nature, with intricate Art Nouveau and brightly colored Art Deco geometric floral patterns. He used a unique printing technique called Pochoir, the method of applying pigment to paper through stencils.
