More about this artwork

The painting depicts a close-up portrait of a face, part of which appears to be made of porcelain, with large, prominent cracks revealing another layer beneath. This underlying layer evokes a spectral quality, differing tonally and texturally from the smoother, more life-like surface. The visible eye and skin sections through the cracks are starkly different, almost ghostly or mask-like. The figure has a bright pink hair that subtly blends into darker shades, complementing the intense, vivid yellow of the eyes that contrast sharply against the predominantly dark palette. The expression is haunting, enhanced by piercing eyes and dark lips delicately gripping a lollipop stick, which adds a childlike innocence to the otherwise eerie depiction.
