More about this artwork
"The Rocket Book Pl 22 (1912)" by Peter Newell captures a moment of unexpected chaos in a seemingly ordinary setting, illustrating Newell's knack for combining humor with lively storytelling through visual art. In this illustration, we see an old-fashioned ice cream maker labeled "CYCLONE FREEZE" having just exploded, spewing its contents onto the wooden floor.A perplexed young boy leans forward to inspect the mishap, while a cat, startled by the sudden occurrence, cautiously approaches the scene. Notably, an object resembling a rocket or projectile has shot out from the ice cream maker, crashing into the ground and contributing to the general disarray of spilled cream and broken kitchenware. This image is not only intriguing for its depiction of a lively domestic incident, but also alluring in its details and characters’ expressions.
