More about this artwork

We apologize for any confusion, but it appears that there has been a misidentification regarding the description of the painting you provided. The artwork in question does not match the titled work "A Storm in a Snow Landscape" by Julius Sergius Klever. Instead, the image depicts a vibrant and colorful market scene, apparently set in a warmer, arid region. The painting shows a group of people in traditional attire, including riders on horseback and bystanders, surrounded by architectural elements and goods for sale, such as pottery. The brushwork and color palette suggest an expressionistic style, capturing a lively social interaction in a sunlit outdoor setting.

Julius Sergius von Klever was a Baltic German landscape painter.

His father was a chemist who taught pharmacology at the Veterinary Institute. He displayed artistic talent at an early age and took lessons from Konstantin von Kügelgen. After completing his primary education, was enrolled at the Imperial Academy of Fine Arts where, at his father's insistence, he studied architecture. After a short time, however, he began to take landscape painting classes; first with Sokrat Vorobiev, then Mikhail Clodt.
