This artwork is a fine expression of Verneuil's prowess in incorporating natural motifs and stylized forms into decorative art, a theme prevalent in his works which resonates deeply with the Art Nouveau movement. The image is structured in three panels, each delineating different elements carved with distinctive grace. The top panel vividly portrays two horses, their forms captured in mid-movement with swirling backgrounds that accentuate the fluidity and dynamic nature of their poses. The horses are rendered with attention to the gentle curves of their bodies, which harmoniously blend into the ornate patterns that surround them. The central panel introduces a striking contrast with its depiction of a proud rooster, symbolizing vigilance and the break of dawn. Positioned next to the rooster is a visually arresting arc that encapsulates two goats amidst a backdrop of lush foliage and interwoven vines. This scene is a masterful display of Verneuil's ability to weave animal figures seamlessly into ornamental designs that echo the rhythms of nature. The arrangement and thematic connections among the panels highlight Verneuil’s skill in combining various elements of nature into a cohesive artistic vision.
