More about this artwork

The artwork titled "Hurtti Ukko-Runon Alkukirjain N, 1897 - 1900" by Albert Edelfelt is an intricate pen and ink drawing on paper. It features a decorative banner or flag design that includes the letter “N” prominently displayed in a bordered square. The flag itself is adorned with elegant stripes and floral elements, likely ribbons and foliate motifs. The stylization of the flag is very ornate, incorporating tendrils and possibly other heraldic or symbolic elements, which suggests that it could be an emblem or a personal insignia. The drawing’s execution is delicate yet detailed, showcasing Edelfelt's skill in rendering fine illustrative details with an emphasis on both aesthetic appeal and character. Such designs were typical in the late 19th century, often used for book illustrations or initial letters in manuscript decorations.
