More about this artwork

Artist: Anny DollscheinDive into the mystical aura of Anny Dollschein's evocative artwork titled "Monument – IN ARTE VOLUPTAS." This captivating etching portrays the stark yet striking contrast of movement against the stillness of a monument, masterfully captured in Dollschein’s fine etching lines and illustrative details. At the heart of this etching, a vigorous winged horse seems to emerge powerfully from the dark, lending an almost divine sense to the scene. The majestic creature is depicted mid-leap, its wings outstretched as if caught in a perpetual flight, defying the bounds of its static backdrop. The central focus is drawn to a classical pedestal prominently inscribed with the words "IN ARTE VOLUPTAS," a Latin phrase suggesting that in art, there is pleasure. This statement serves as a compelling reminder of the transcendent joys that art can evoke. Below the inscription, the textures and shadows suggest grass and bushes, framed by the suggestive outlines of trees, enhancing the composition's depth and framing the central drama of the horse's flight. The background is defined by a subdued, cloudy sky that both contrasts and complements the dynamic foreground, adding to the enigmatic quality that pervades Dollschein's work.“Monument – IN ARTE VOLUPTAS” invites viewers to reflect on the perpetual struggle between dynamic freedom and static immobility, the celestial and the grounded, all while reminding us of the profound pleasures that art brings to life.
