More about this artwork

Theo van Rysselberghe, a key figure in the European neo-impressionist movement, offers a captivating portrait in his 1910 painting, "Madame Von Bodenhausen Avec Son Enfant Luli." This work showcases van Rysselberghe's masterful use of vibrant color and meticulous dot technique, reflecting the influence of pointillism, which defines much of his celebrated style. The painting depicts Madame Von Bodenhausen, an embodiment of elegance and maternal grace, alongside her daughter Luli. Both figures are rendered with exquisite detail that highlights their distinct, poised expressions. Madame Von Bodenhausen, standing with an air of confidence, wears a flowing blue dress adorned with golden accents that harmonize beautifully with her dignified stance. The gold chain at her waist adds a touch of opulence to her attire. Her daughter Luli, appearing serene and contemplative, is dressed in a pale pink and yellow dress, with a matching blue bow in her hair that echoes her mother's color scheme. The background, a kaleidoscope of blues and greens interspersed with the warm hues of a floral arrangement, creates a lively tapestry that enhances the subjects. The interplay of light and texture brings the scene to life, making the figures almost luminous against the richly decorated room.
