More about this artwork

Discover tranquility and harmony in Aelbert Cuyp's serene painting, "Cows in a River." This evocative work captures a picturesque scene by the waterside, where a group of cows stands gracefully at the edge of a river, immersed in the gentle lapping of the water. Cuyp's masterful use of light accentuates the lush, golden tones of the cows’ coats against the expansive backdrop of a soft, cloud-filled sky.The composition balances the pastoral calmness of the cows with dynamic elements of a distant boat and the river's subtle movements, bringing life to this peaceful encounter.
