More about this artwork

The evocative painting titled "Corner Of A Park" by Ľudovít Čordák captures the subtle interplay of light and color in a serene park setting. Painted between 1900 and 1930, this work showcases Čordák's mastery in rendering natural scenery with a rich, impressionistic style. In this artwork, a winding path invites viewers into a lush, green landscape. The trees, full and heavy with foliage, cluster around the edges of the composition, their dark silhouettes stark against a softly glowing yellow sky which might suggest either a sunrise or a sunset. The path, shaded by the overarching trees, provides a sense of depth and intrigue, leading one's eye into the distance, gently curving out of sight and leaving the destination to the viewer’s imagination.Čordák’s use of thick brushstrokes and textured layers of paint creates a vibrant, dynamic scene that is both intimate and expansive. The colors, predominantly shades of green and splashes of earth tones, are highlighted by the golden hues of the sky, adding a sense of warmth and tranquility. This painting is a splendid example of Čordák's artistic ability to convey not just a visual experience but an atmospheric, almost tactile sensation, encouraging a moment of pause and reflection in the viewer.

Ludwig Deutsch was an Austrian painter who settled in Paris and became a noted Orientalist artist.

Details of Ludwig Deutsch's life are obscure. He was born in Vienna in 1855 into a well-established Jewish family. His father Ignaz Deutsch was a financier at the Austrian court. He studied at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts 1872–1875, then, in 1878, moved to Paris where he became strongly associated with Orientalism.
