More about this artwork

We are delighted to present "Faisans ordinaires", a remarkable artwork by Maurice Pillard Verneuil, created in 1897. This painting encapsulates the elegance and vivid detail characteristic of Verneuil's work, often celebrated for its intricate patterns and a deep understanding of the natural world. In "Faisans ordinaires", the scene is set in a tranquil forested landscape, where two pheasants are depicted amidst a detailed depiction of flora. The male pheasants, resplendent with rich, warm hues of browns, reds, and golds, stand prominent against a backdrop of muted green and soft earth tones. Their long, graceful tails stretch out in harmony with the linear forms of the underbrush and tree trunks, suggesting both movement and poise.Verneuil's masterful use of color and form not only highlights the beauty of these creatures but also invites us to appreciate the silent, fleeting moments in the wild. His artistic prowess transforms a simple portrayal of pheasants into a vibrant, dynamic tableau that captures the essence of the living forest."Faisans ordinaires" transcends mere observation; it is a celebration of nature, displaying Verneuil’s profound reverence for its untouched splendor.
