More about this artwork

Karl Wiener's compelling work, part of his series 'Aus meinem Leben, 50 Blätter XXIV,' invites viewers into a vivid exploration of color and form. Dominated by a bold central motif that resembles a radiant sun, the painting is an expressive burst of red and blue rays emanating powerfully from a bright yellow core. This abstract celestial form could symbolize energy, hope, or the explosive dynamism of life itself. The usage of stark, primary colors enhances the painting's visual impact, drawing the eye directly to the sun's incandescent heart. Surrounding the central figure are hints of a deep blue space, suggesting an expansive universe or perhaps the depth of the human psyche.Inscribed at the bottom is "Wilhelm Moron!," which adds a layer of personal or historical context, possibly addressing or dedicating the piece to a person or an alter ego of the artist. This signature at the painting's margin, alongside the artist's initials "K.W.," brings a human touch to the abstract composition, reminding the viewers of the artist's active role in shaping the visual elements of the work.Displayed prominently within our gallery, this painting not only brightens the space but also sparks conversations about the intersections of emotion, artistry, and identity in early 20th-century art.

Karl Wiener was an Austrian draftsman , graphic artist and photo montage artist. Because of his political and time-critical montages of the 1930s and 1940s, he was posthumously referred to as the Austrian John Heartfield on the occasion of the major retrospective on his estate in the Wien Museum.
