More about this artwork

Welcome to our exhibition featuring the provocative and alluring artwork titled "Ohne Titel (Frauenfigur)" by the esteemed artist Karl Wiener. This piece dates back to around 1930 and offers a fascinating glimpse into the creative expression of the early 20th century. In this exquisite work, the viewer is greeted with the image of a female figure, portrayed in a minimalist yet evocative style. The subject stands in a relaxed yet confident posture, her head tilted slightly, suggesting a demeanor of contemplation or resolve. Her attire, highlighted by a striking red bikini, contrasts vividly with her pale skin tone, drawing the viewer's focus to her form. The background of the painting is a mottled and textural turquoise blue that appears almost turbulent, echoing possibly the emotional or psychological state of the figure. The rough, almost unfinished quality of the backdrop creates a compelling contrast with the smooth and more defined depiction of the woman.Karl Wiener’s "Ohne Titel (Frauenfigur)" is a remarkable representation of stylized simplicity coupled with depth of emotion and atmosphere. This piece not only showcases Wiener's mastery of form and color but also encapsulates the shifting moods and styles of the era in which it was created. We invite you to delve deeper into the intricacies of this captivating artwork as you explore the rest of the exhibition.

Karl Wiener was an Austrian draftsman , graphic artist and photo montage artist. Because of his political and time-critical montages of the 1930s and 1940s, he was posthumously referred to as the Austrian John Heartfield on the occasion of the major retrospective on his estate in the Wien Museum.
