More about this artwork

We are delighted to present "Where the Heart Is," a vibrantly expressive painting by contemporary artist Martynas Ivinskas. This piece is a vivid exploration of the emotional and physical spaces we call home, rendered in a bold, graphic style that pulsates with life and color. The painting is a rich tapestry of various elements that symbolize different aspects of life and personal identity. Dominating the central portion of the composition is a large, anatomical heart, detailed and pulsing, representing the core of human existence—emotion, love, and vitality. This heart is not just a biological symbol but a beacon of the emotional investments we make in places and people that we cherish.Surrounding the heart are other dynamic and colorful images, including lush green asparagus spears and bright red peppers, illustrating nature's bounty and perhaps the basic human need for nurturing and sustenance. One side features a caricatured face in a state of surprise or exclamation, next to the word "POP" in explosive lettering, suggesting moments of shock, realization, or epiphany that come in every life.Interesting motifs like the target board, partially obscured by the heart, and a question mark add elements of mystery and challenge, highlighting the choices and targets we set in our personal journeys. Moreover, the incorporation of an ice cream cone to one side juxtaposes childhood innocence and the sweetness of memories we hold dear.Martynas Ivinskas's work here is not only a celebration of life's vividness but a contemplative piece on what anchors us in a world full of chaos and constant changes.

“Martynas Ivinskas is not very concerned about form or the tools. This artist – which we can call a true libertarian of the art world – uses any means available at the given moment to create his art. This way the art was born on the jute coffee bags, on city maps – musicians and musical instruments who repeat, articulate and highlight the lines only seen by the artist, the streets of the cities we can one can lose himself. In addition to that he creates objects which are something between a sculpture, collage, a painting or a household item. To the beholder he offers an array of randomly scattered items, the fragmented reality. It is an organized chaos, objectified in his own, unique way. A sort of ‘whatever’ ” . Paulius Garbačiauskas
