An array of vibrant and varied flowers overflows from a textured white vase positioned centrally. The background is a muted green, setting a contrast that highlights the bright tones of the floral arrangement. Among the flowers, there are large, eye-catching red-orange blooms with spiky petals, along with more delicate white daisies with soft, rounded petals and dark centers. A single, dark purplish-black tulip adds a unique, somber touch to the ensemble, while clusters of small, round, blue flowers add to the variety and texture. Sprigs of tiny yellow blossoms burst out, resembling threads of fine beads. All the flowers are supported by a variety of green leaves, some broad and flat, others elongated and pointed, contributing to the lush, dense feel of the bouquet. The overall composition conveys a sense of careful arrangement and natural elegance, imbued with a feeling of calm and serenity.

Despite never attending a formal art school, Henri Rousseau (1844–1910) is wildly recognized as a self-taught genius, who left a lasting legacy to the avant-garde movement. Rousseau practiced painting and drawing by copying artworks in the art museums of Paris in his spare time. Since he never studied anatomy and perspective at an art school, he developed a unique artistic style known as 'Naive' or 'Primitive'. His paintings are often depicted in a childish or dreamlike manner with their vivid colors, ambiguous spaces, and non-realistic scale. Most of his signature paintings portray wild animals or human figures in the jungle. His artwork was not accepted by the conservative critics so he became a member of the Parisian artistic and literary avant-garde movement where his works extensively influenced several generations of avant-garde artists and surrealists.
