More about this artwork

The painting features two distinct sections, each portraying a dense arrangement of botanical motifs. The upper section showcases a pattern where clusters of leaf-like shapes in deep purples and blues mix with vibrant orange and white floral outlines. Small specks of green and red are scattered amidst these elements, enhancing the vivid assortment. The lower section of the image continues with botanical themes, but in a different color palette predominantly consisting of greens and yellows, against a backdrop of brown feather-like leaves. Here too, tiny red and blue details add a touch of brightness to the predominantly earthy tones. The patterns possess a rhythmic quality, typical of textile designs, suggesting movement and a lively natural interplay.

Emile-Alain Séguy was a French 20th century artist. He produced eleven albums inspired by insects, butterflies and nature, with intricate Art Nouveau and brightly colored Art Deco geometric floral patterns. He used a unique printing technique called Pochoir, the method of applying pigment to paper through stencils.
