More about this artwork

In the artwork, vibrant yellow butterflies with hints of orange are depicted against a dark blue background speckled with lighter gray-blue tones, creating a textural illusion. Each butterfly is intricately designed with delicate black lines that define their wings, adding detail and depth. The background features swirling vine-like patterns and small, leafy botanical elements in shades of blue, creating a lush, flowing tapestry that interacts gracefully with the butterflies. Dashes of bright blue and small spots of turquoise embellish the wings and the flora, enhancing the vibrancy of the composition.

Emile-Alain Séguy was a French 20th century artist. He produced eleven albums inspired by insects, butterflies and nature, with intricate Art Nouveau and brightly colored Art Deco geometric floral patterns. He used a unique printing technique called Pochoir, the method of applying pigment to paper through stencils.
