In the painting, a ballerina is depicted in a moment of quiet preparation. She sits with a gentle slump, her head bowed as she delicately adjusts the ribbons of her ballet shoe. Her tutu fans out around her, a cascade of ethereal white layers that contrast starkly with her soft grey bodice. The folds of the tutu are rendered with meticulous care, each pleat catching the light differently, suggesting both depth and volume.
