More about this artwork

This painting, titled "Vilnius Secret" by Aurika, is a vibrant and imaginative portrayal of the cityscape of Vilnius intertwined with surreal elements. The central figure in the artwork is a stylized young woman with an enigmatic expression looking sideways, her face partially merging into the architectural background. Her hair is elegantly styled in golden swirls, reflecting a classical yet whimsical aesthetic. The background of the painting is a rich tapestry of various shades of orange, gold, and brown, suggesting the colors of sunset or the historical patina of an old city. The architecture depicted resembles the baroque style, hinting at the historic buildings one can find in Vilnius, such as churches and old residential areas. The buildings and elements are not represented in a realistic manner but rather as floating and fragmented pieces, contributing to the dreamlike atmosphere of the painting.Additionally, birds, an element frequently found in symbolic and dream imagery, are prevalent in this composition, fluttering around or near the main figure, with some birds stylistically rendered, blurring the lines between the animate and inanimate.

Aurika's artwork has been exhibited in Vilnius, Kaunas, Utena as well as Amsterdam and Chicago. Various paintings form a part of private collections all over the world.

Artist's attention is directed towards the fragile, mysterious and rather gothic world of angels. Pale, solemn and gentle, the angels carry an ambience of sacred ubiquity to the background as well as the observer standing out perfectly over the rest of the vivid composition.
