More about this artwork

The painting portrays a figure cloaked in black, his visage bearing a disturbing yet captivating assembly of disjointed elements that suggest an emotional complexity. His face is a striking composition of angular and rounded shapes, evoking a Picasso-esque fragmentation. Geometric pieces seemingly held in mid-motion hover near his face, including suggestions of eyes and multifaceted objects that could symbolize thoughts or emotions made visible. The figure’s eyes are mismatched, one appearing as a traditional, realistic orb, while the other resembles an abstract, lens-like disc set within an uneven polygon. This eye disorientation communicates an intense, possibly chaotic internal state. Decorative, almost tribal-like patterns—like the prominent snowflake or star on his forehead—add an ethereal or ritualistic quality to his appearance, hinting at a deeper cultural or symbolic significance. His hands grip his arms tightly, in a self-embracing or protective gesture, reinforcing a sense of unease or self-consolation. The hands, like the face, are abstractly rendered with elongated, sinewy fingers that appear both expressive and awkward in their positioning.

My painting journey began in 2017, shortly after the art studies. Over time, my painting transformed from emotionally expressive portraits to surrealistic, symbolistic and psychedelic artworks.

In the beginning, painting played a more self-therapeutic role, while today it is most inspired by the intellectual and emotional experience of other artists (Edvard Munch, David Hockney, Nicolas Party, Maxim Fomenko, Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis), being in nature, visiting exhibitions, and working in  art gallery.

In my work, I seek to convey a different, transformed, enhanced world, existing between dream and reality. I am not interested in rational reality, in life I also strive to experience the daily life transcendently, to notice ordinary things from a different point of view. The bright coloring common in the canvases is a part of the intuitive creative process and reflects the intensification of sensory and visual experience when being in nature.

Since 2018, I have participated in over 13 solo and group exhibitions. My works belong to private collectors from Lithuania, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Norway and Chile.
