More about this artwork

We are thrilled to present "Kelionė II" (Journey II), a captivating painting by the renowned Lithuanian artist Arūnas Rutkus. This evocative artwork invites viewers on a symbolic journey, portrayed through the dynamic image of two figures riding a horse across a textured, golden backdrop that seems to shimmer with hidden stories. In this painting, the artist masterfully blends realism and fantasy, creating an image that resonates with depth and mystery. The main subjects, a man and a woman, are depicted in mid-motion, giving the impression of moving through time or between worlds. Both figures are adorned with intricate tattoos or body paint, which add a layer of cultural or historical significance, suggesting an odyssey not just through space but through heritage and history. The horse, muscular and majestic, carries the travelers with a serene yet powerful demeanor, symbolizing strength and endurance. The use of a muted gold and brown palette evokes a sense of antiquity, perhaps alluding to mythological travels or ancient legends. Rutkus's brushwork adds a tactile quality to the scene, with rich textures that make the figures almost tangible."Kelionė II" is more than a painting; it is a narrative, a visual poem that speaks of journeys both literal and metaphorical. It challenges the viewers to contemplate the journeys they themselves are on, the heritage they carry, and the timeless bond between human and nature. This magnificent piece is a testament to Arūnas Rutkus's skill in creating deeply moving, visually stunning artworks that invite viewers to delve into their own interpretations and to reconnect with the primal and perpetual voyage of life.
