More about this artwork

Arūnas Rutkus, a renowned Lithuanian artist, continues to stir the imagination with his compelling and evocative paintings. One of his remarkable works, "Žvelgianti į dangų" which translates to "Looking at the Sky", exemplifies his unique artistic vision. This painting captures a figure in a complex pose, evoking a sense of contemplation and depth. The figure, defined by striking textures that mimic lace patterns, bends backward in a flexible, acrobatic maneuver. Her body is adorned in a material that looks both like armor and delicate fabric, suggesting themes of vulnerability and strength. The dominating blue backdrop contrasts sharply with the intricate patterns of the body, emphasizing her form and the emotional intensity of the pose.Rutkus uses texture and color to manipulate the mood and impact of his work, crafting visuals that resonate on multiple levels. The detailed, lace-like texture on the figure's body is particularly captivating, inviting viewers to ponder the relationship between the external facade we present and our internal experiences."Žvelgianti į dangų" is not just a testament to Rutkus’s mastery of form and color, but also an invitation. It beckons the viewer to look deeper, beyond the surface, and perhaps, like the figure, toward something transcendent.
