More about this artwork

"Herbststraße" (Autumn Street), a serene and evocative watercolor painting by Anny Dollschein, captures the essence of a vibrant autumnal scene, painted after 1938. This artwork entices viewers with a picturesque depiction of a peaceful street bathed in the rich, warm hues of fall. The composition showcases a curved pathway that leads the eye through a charming neighborhood lined with lush trees, their leaves painted in shades of amber, ochre, and mauve, suggesting the changing colors of the season. To the left, the side of a large yellow building anchors the scene, while quaint houses with red roofs peek through the dense foliage, adding a touch of coziness and rural charm. A white picket fence runs along one side of the street, enhancing the quaint and idyllic atmosphere. The sky, illustrated with broad, expressive strokes, reflects a changing weather, moving between the promise of clear blues and the threat of an overcast day."Herbststraße" not only reflects Dollschein's mastery in watercolor techniques but also her ability to evoke emotion and atmosphere, inviting the viewer to step into a moment suspended in time, a crisp autumn day forever captured with her brush.
