The central character, a regal and enigmatic merman adorned with a flowing cape, reacts with surprise to a spectral figure, exclaiming "You're A Ghost!" This dialogue, captured in the artwork itself, infuses the scene with a sense of dynamic interaction and immediacy.Surrounding the central image, the border is beautifully detailed with marine flora and silhouetted sea creatures, enhancing the undersea ambiance. The intricate border not only frames the action but also extends the thematic depth and richness of the marine environment, further drawing the viewer into this underwater world.John R. Neill's illustration, originally intended to accompany a children's story, transcends its literary purpose to deliver a standalone visual feast.
