More about this artwork

We are delighted to feature the exquisite artwork, crafted by the renowned botanical artist Pierre Joseph Redouté between the years 1817 and 1824. This stunning piece captures the delicate beauty of the Damask rose, distinguished by its dense petals and soft, variegated hues ranging from pale pinks to deep, romantic reds.Redouté's meticulous attention to detail is evident in the lifelike representation of each flower and leaf. The central bloom, fully opened, showcases a lush array of petals with a subtle gradient of color, surrounded by younger blossoms and buds in various stages of unfoldment. The leaves, with their vivid green shades and realistic venation, complement the flowers, creating a harmonious blend of color and form. This painting is not only a visual delight but also a scientific record, reflecting Redouté's commitment to the accurate depiction of botanical subjects.
